Cultural Identity Reflection Paper
Week 2
For this assignment, prepare a reflection paper to describe the development of your own cultural identity. Incorporate information such as models and concepts from the assigned readings and additional research you conduct. Locate scholarly journal articles that assist you in understanding your cultural values and beliefs. Be sure to incorporate these sources into this week’s paper.In your paper, include the following:
Identify and examine some of your own personal biases, limitations, and experiences that have shaped your worldview, and that might affect your interactions with individuals who do not share your culture.
Reflect and report on the “Mosaic” framework of culture and the concepts of horizontal versus vertical multiculturalism.
Explain the cultural group(s) you self-identify with and why. These groups may include your race, religion, and any other personal characteristics you see as part of your individuality.
Examine the influence your family has had on your cultural identity development.
Support your assignment with at least five scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including seminal articles, may be included.Length: 5-7 pages, not including title and reference pages
Your assignment should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic.
