The 2002 British film, Bend It Like Beckham follows Jess, the daughter of an Indian family living in London. Jess enjoys and excels at football but was prohibited by her family from playing the sport due to her race and gender. The story goes on to describe the challenges Jess faced when she was offered a scholarship to play football in America, and subsequently how she managed to overcome the challenges. For this case study, the key diverse experiences Jess faced are identified as race and gender.
