The health paradigm focuses on the connection and the continuous interconnectedness of one’s entire being (Siddique, 2018). In this case, the relationship focuses on the spirit, mind, and body. Therefore, it is a concept surrounded by aspects regarding holistic states of one’s well-being. Besides the above-stated points of focus, there is a need to consider social and physical issues. As described by the specific framework, there is a solid connection between various body elements, whereby the most discussed is the ideal link-up between one’s behavior and health. In this case, it is crucial to understand that one’s general stability starts with health status. The nature of one’s health determines if they are positioned to develop good and positive features.
Behavior is a critical element in one’s lifetime since it plays a fundamental role when seeking more knowledge regarding physical health. In the contemporary world, being involved in unhealthy human practices is the leading cause of various infections, including chronic illnesses. For instance, people involved in poor dietary habits, limited physical activities, and increased practices revolving around drug abuse are likely to be affected by chronic diseases. Examples of such severe infections include heart disease, cancer, and many more. Thus, the solution revolves around seeking and aligning with the best medical programs, including regular exercise, skipping unhealthy behavior such as smoking, reducing alcohol consumption, and eating balanced diets. Health paradigms are crucial because they include practices, beliefs, and systems that are essential to achieving wellness objectives. Healthcare leaders and professionals can achieve strong health success in societies with the aid of health paradigms. Because healthcare systems are constantly evolving, it is necessary to create new, better systems for delivering services. Health paradigms also change over time. Two prevalent paradigms have a direct connection between health and behavior. Several paradigms have an impact on healthcare practices and policy formulation. The functional and Hippocratic paradigms help students better understand how behaviors and health are related, demonstrating how social factors and health are interrelated. One of the first paradigms utilized in western medicine and remains in use today is the Hippocratic paradigm, often known as the healthcare paradigm (Firdaus et al., 2020). According to the Hippocratic paradigm, some illnesses have specific origins that are the result of particular social conditions, and their treatments are centered on those causes. The Hippocratic paradigm’s importance in illuminating the relationship between health and social issues has made it extremely pertinent and popular in contemporary medicine. The functional paradigm is another paradigm that aids students in understanding how social elements or actions are related to health. The functional paradigm seeks to identify the underlying cause of the condition, in contrast to traditional medicine, which uses medications to treat the symptoms of some disorders. The functional paradigm, like the Hippocratic paradigm, uses an examination of human bodily functions to aid students in understanding social issues associated with health. Social influences and physical or mental health have long been connected.
The idea of health literacy is a crucial component of the relationship between health and behavior. In order to make wise decisions regarding their health, a person must be able to comprehend and apply health information. According to research, people with higher levels of health literacy are less likely to smoke or take part in other dangerous behaviors and more likely to engage in healthy activities like exercise and a nutritious diet. This is crucial when thinking about how social determinants of health affect health because those with lower health literacy may have less access to resources and information that could help them improve their health.
The relationship between humans and the environmental elements that affect health is reflected in behaviors. People’s behaviors impact the circumstances in which they live and, consequently, the results of their health.
