My capstone was already done in the summer of Aug. 09, 2022, at Borgess-Lee Hospital. My internship was in the ER; my preceptor was Diana M. I did 120 hours. My capstone project was on Identifying and Update Community Resources for Both Hospital Employees as Well as Patients
As Borgess-Lee Hospital has become more consumer-oriented, patient satisfaction and providing health care information to discharged patients and the community have become more important. Valuable information that area hospitals can provide include what patients should do next after they are discharged from the hospital, information on filling their prescriptions, mental health services available in the community, transportation services that provide rides for seniors/disabled to healthcare services, and finding a preferred care provider (PCP) for follow-ups. Borgess-Lee Hospital must have good communication with their surrounding community to ensure that the communities healthcare needs are being met and the community is informed and aware of these services. This paper discus’s the importance of a hospital in a community and surveys emergency room nurses on improved ways to make the community more aware of these services when interacting with the local hospital.
Healthcare services are essential services to any community and should be made at any cost to every person in the community regardless of the person’s ability to pay or the cost of the service, or if they are insured. These tasks healthcare facilities such as Borgess-Lee Hospital with providing quality services to the community while maintaining established budgets, staffing issues, shortage of supplies, and storage of medicine. Borgess-Lee hospitals can serve their community in several ways: providing employment, offering clinics, providing transportation, connection with area nursing homes, and offering mental health services throughout the community.
